Welcome to the St Matts Young Adults ministry. We are passionate about reflecting the generosity of Christ in and to our community. We want to build up and grow our young adults in the likeness of Jesus Christ. And we want to share this truth with those who don't yet know Jesus.
No matter where you are at with Jesus, you are always welcome to spend time with us and discover all that God intended you to be. If you would like to know more about our young adult ministry please contact the St Matts Office.
Listed below are some of the places where we hang out
Weekly Services
Our young adults are welcome at all services at St Matts, but we particularly meet at the 7pm and 5pm services.
Weekly Homegroups
Our Young Adults meet each week in small groups to share their lives and to grow in their relationship with Jesus and our community. When we meet we read the Bible together, pray for each other, and just hang out.
It's a great place to encourage each other as we reflect the generosity of what Jesus has done in our lives and is doing in his world. Our groups meet Monday to Wednesday nights.
In August 2010, the Young Adults Homegroups gathered together for a combined teaching series. We looked at Ethics: how to do good as a Christian & how to make godly, well founded decisions. We covered Consumerism, Marriage, Addiction, Sexual ethics, and Poverty. Edited versions of these talks are available for download as mp3 files from the St Matts Website Resources. You can click here to access them. |
Monthly - Circle and Adelphoi
About once a month the young adult community meets to hang out and to look at what it is to reflect the generosity of Jesus in and to our community. The young women meet as a group called Circle and the men gather at Adelphoi. During these meetings we hear from guest speakers, look at issues in our world and look at what God has to say in His Word. We also regularly meet just to hang out and have a BBQ or some other social activity. At all of these activities our young adults are encouraged to bring their friends - doesn't matter where they are at with Jesus.
Twice a Year - Summer Exodus and Spring Exodus
In February each year our young adult community goes away together for a weekend. This is a time to open up the Bible and look at issues particularly relevant to uni students and young workers. It is also a great time to chill out with friends and also to connect with new members of our young adult community.
In the second half of the year our young adult community go away for a weekend of great teaching, great fellowship and great fun.We either do this at Spring Exodus, or else we join in with other young adults and head off to the Engage Conference at Katoomba.
