"Don't let the world take the truth away"- this was the main song we taught the Barraba children at kids’ club.
The Foords and the Hellstroms, along with a Cherrybrook Anglican church crowd, went Northwest in the October school holidays. What an amazing time we had. As a mission group we provided many outreach activities for the town. It started with many hours of planning and meeting our Barraba team building relationships. The first event was a men's dinner at the hotel where 2 testimonies were given - one from Mike Dawborn (whom you may remember as one of the people instrumental in the Cherrybrook church plant) and the other from a man who lives in Barraba and is known in the community. Over the following 3 days we ran a kids club in the mornings under the watchful eye of Kate Dawborn - an amazing woman. 50 kids came to play games, sing, make great craft and hear the message of the gospel. These kids look forward to the kids club every year as do the rest of town. Heather spoke candidly at a women's craft, dessert and coffee night which was also about talking to the many women in the community.
The teenagers were a great help at the kids’ club as well as having a youth event. One of the mission team helped each teen construct a rocket which were all launched at the high school - the kids didn't want to go home at the end and had a touch footy game - a fantastic opportunity to talk to these kids. Our family had a wonderful time and can see the benefits of donating time to a mission such as this - we hope to be going back next year.
