Special Religious Education (SRE) - more commonly known as Scripture - is an integral part of the curriculum in government schools.
A wonderfully diverse group of men and women - ranging in age from mid twenties to mid eighties, students, retirees, and part time employees - from St Matts and Cherrybrook Anglican Church teach scripture in our three local primary schools - West Pennant Hills PS and Cherrybrook PS on Friday mornings and John Purchase PS on Tuesday mornings!
All our volunteers are individually authorised and trained to teach Christian Scripture and comply with all the requirements of current Child Protection Legislation.
In the twenty seven Anglican Scripture classes about 540 children hear the key themes of the Bible and the Christian faith clearly explained through an exciting program called Connect which is published by Christian Education Publications. This government approved curriculum has material which includes student activity books, teaching manuals and aids, music and other activities that are age and stage appropriate and designed to meet the needs of the children in each class.
