The Book of Ecclesiastes ...

Ecclesiastes is a tricky and difficult book! There have been many opinions as to its meaning or perspective.  It is part of the Wisdom Literature of the Old Testament, along with Proverbs, Job and the Song of Songs.

At its heart, Ecclesiastes is about what it means to be a Christian and a human being at the same time. It is about the enigmatic and ambiguous nature of life - even life with God.  It is about the fct that even though we know lots of things, there are many things which confuse us, are complicated, or we cannot know.  It is about the  futility of striving for gain and meaning for our own sakes and being the creators of our own universes, particularly in the face of the reality of death.
