The Acts of the Apostles

Acts, like the Gospel of Luke, is addressed to Theophilus, (meaning "Lover of God"), who was probably Luke's patron. Luke accomplishes the general purpose of 'the edification of Christians' by giving an account of the historical foundation of the Christian faith.  God's salvation was revealed in, and made available through his Son, Jesus Christ. The message of salvation was entrusted by Christ himself to the Apostles, and through the empowering and directing of the Holy Spirit, they have brought that message to the 'ends of the earth.'.
