Mission Aid Group

Mission Aid Group

Mission Aid Group is an auxiliary of CMS. St Matthews has been supporting this work for about 20 years. Our group meets bi-monthly in Feb, April, June, Aug and October at 1 pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

About 12 -15 people attend to sort the goods – more pleasant when we have an occasional speaker.
The purpose of MAG is to support Christian training centres, schools and hospitals in eleven Anglican dioceses in Tanzania, East Africa.

We collect needed items (exercise books, all types of stationary, making children’s clothes and rugs, first aid/ hygiene needs – nail and toothbrushes, Band Aids, razor blades, soap, disposable gloves and much more). All items must be new.

We send the goods to the depot at Kingsgrove where experienced volunteers buy and pack three containers per year. The delivery of each container costs about $12,000. The container remains in Tanzania as a useful secure store. The contents are distributed to the schools, churches and Christian workers.

Tanzania remains one of the poorest African countries and this practical demonstration by fellow Christian Australians is greatly appreciated.
