Pastor Reuben Zivagwe, supported by his wife Chiedza, founded Living Word Ministries, to take the gospel to their people, the Tonga of the Zambezi Valley along the Zimbabwe/Zambia border.
After finding God Reuben left his tribe to be formally trained as a pastor. Sometime later he was called to the position of Pastor at Mufakose Baptist church on the edge of Harare. This position, whilst it is underpaid, enables him to continue his work with his people with some limited local funding.
Reuben met Pastor Oliver during the troublesome times in Zimbabwe and learned of the plight of the orphaned and vulnerable children in Kotwa about 20km from the Mozambique border. He had a conviction that God was guiding him to act to help build a school and accommodation for these children.

So under Reuben, Living Word Ministries has two arms - taking the gospel to the Tonga people around Nenyunga and supporting the orphans in Kotwa. |
Reuben met Steve Abbott at a conference in Amsterdam in 2000 and this began an enduring connection via email between him and Steve. In 2009 Steve visited Zimbabwe for the first time and this confirmed his conviction that this was a ministry that was worthwhile and in need of support. In 2012 and again in 2014 a team from St. Matt's visited Living Words Ministries' projects, gaining an understanding of the vision, objectives work and progress. St. Matthew's is committed to supporting this mission through regular prayer and giving.

Reuben and Chiedza have three children, Emmanuel, Naome and Reuben junior and they also are raising an orphaned nephew and niece, Lovemore and Sarah. |
Please pray for this family and the work they are doing to spread the gospel.
