Steve grew up in Adelaide, moved to Sydney at 22, became a Christian at 23 and has sought to explain the truth about Jesus to people ever since. After Bible College (at SMBC), Steve was the Youth Minister at St Matt’s for 5 years (1997-2001) working with the Youth and Youth Leaders before he and his family moved to Perth in 2002 for him to be the first AFES Staffworker at Murdoch University. Their goal, under God, is to transform Perth by evangelising the vast majority of young adults in Perth who have never heard the gospel (and have never met a Christian who knows it), to train the Christian uni students in the gospel, to grow them strong, confident and eager to speak up for Jesus, and to raise up the next generation of church leaders and church planters that Perth so desperately needs.
Steve is married to Melinda and they have 4 sons (Jaidon, Lewis, Ezra and Sheamus).
Steve's role on campus at Murdoch is to partner the Christian students involved with the Murdoch Christian Union (aka Murdoch Christians United/MCU).
During a typical week, Steve will...
· Teach the Bible (in the weekly Bible Talks);
· Personally talk to non-Christian students about the gospel;
· Train students in personal evangelism;
· Lead multiple Bible Study groups on campus and in the Student Village;
· Meet with the blokes of MCU to support, encourage, teach and train them;
· Attend the MCU student Committee meetings & planning days to be a mentor for the MCU Committee members and to train them in Christian ministry.
· Train students in a variety of ministry skills (eg Writing and leading a Bible Study, Preaching, Theology, World Views, Engaging with Islam, etc.)
